Voir un ami pleurer
Brel, stripped bare, as he reached us. The first card on record.
A theatrical concert. A narrator first tells — in the language of the room — who the song was written for. Then it is sung, in French. Context changes everything.
Brel, stripped bare, as he reached us. The first card on record.
The first six postcards, recorded as a duo: one voice, one guitar.

Born near Lyon, in the Netherlands since 2019. It is there, far from his language, that he returns to French chanson — first in the intimacy of house concerts.
No imitation: not Brel, not Barbara, not Aznavour — his own voice, filtered through his own life. The songs stay in French; the emotion needs no translation.
Originally from Saddleworth in the north of England, in the Netherlands since 1976, Richard has played guitar since the age of ten — from teenage rock bands to folk-oriented groups, with Ralph McTell, Richard Thompson and Declan Sinnott as references.
He draws the space where the voice can settle, where silence has a right to exist. All his virtuosity in service of the story.
